Leaving A Legacy

The Ashley Foundation

At a profoundly young age, Michael F. Ashley knew that he would be a force to reckon with, in whatever endeavors he decided to pursue.

Mike was deeply fulfilled by the internal reward he received from a hard day’s work and the success it brought him. As a child his tenacity and ambition to succeed, accelerated into adulthood; which in turn allowed him an incredible life. From selling packs of gum in junior high school to skipping entire days of high school to accomplish odd jobs; his drive could not be hindered. When his school principal confronted him and asked what he planned to do with his life, he was able to articulate his future vision of becoming a successful businessman.

In his early career, he started building homes and eventually became famous for land development and building some of the most intricate and extravagant mansions in Hidden Hills, California.

While telling stories of his unparalleled adventure and breathtaking experiences Mike’s charismatic personality combined with his wickedly sharp dry humor would leave a room speechless with everyone wanting to hear more. Despite being a very successful businessman, his idea of formal wear was Levi's Jeans and a Hawaiian print shirt.

Mike preferred the simple life, hanging out with his two cats and spending time with loved ones. In his free time, Mike was an extremely adventurous daredevil, who had no fear. He enjoyed rappelling off 2000-foot cliffs, snow skiing at top speed down double black diamond trails, and riding dirt bikes full throttle wide open across states. His enjoyment consisted of driving fast cars, flying fast jets, and beautiful women; namely his loyal partner and love of his life, Tiffany Scattaglia. Even in his older years he continuously sought out thrill-seeking activities as well as the most adventurous experiences life had to offer.

He was extremely passionate about the 500 acres of untouched Northern Idaho land he acquired to start a charitable foundation. The Ashley Foundation Inc. was created to carry on his legacy; which was to ensure scenic vistas, along with land conservation values are available for all to enjoy.

“No one outworked Mike. No one outplayed Mike. No one out thought Mike. No one held you more accountable. Mike said what he meant; and did what he promised. It was an honor and a blessing to be Mike’s friend.”   Dana B.

“Mike never took no for an answer.”  Brad B.
